The Space

A newly bought 6200 sq ft. home in the city of Kolkata, owned by MasterChef, Sneha Singhi.

The Ask

We took up this time-sensitive project during the pandemic and had all of six months to redo the entire house. Along with the client, her husband-to-be, and their two dogs were going to live in this home. The only brief they had for us was to keep the home airy, welcoming, and full of light.

The Result

The amount of trust that our client had in us was really inspiring and made us want to do our very best. Since the client is a working couple, we were looking for furniture that was easy to maintain without having to compromise on style or elegance. We travelled overseas to buy most of the furniture and the client approved all of it simply on our word after looking at the pictures.

The couple are serious art collectors and have a remarkable art collection. We made the most of this throughout their home.

The whole point of renovating the house was to have an open space with dog friendly interiors.

The place has a history of its own and that made it an even more interesting project. Our client did not want anything flashy or gaudy in their space. Every member of the family had a very simple taste and we respected their choice. We used blue and grey as the primary colours for the walls. Apart from that, we used a simple palette and elegant materials to give the space a new look. The family also includes a dog, which we kept in our mind while designing the exteriors.

Doing up a home like this was immensely satisfying for us and when the clients finally saw the space at the surprise housewarming party we threw for them, it was evident they loved it too!
